Job description
Join i-to-i on their new Japan TEFL internship!
You’ll kick off your Japan adventure by completing our 120-Hour TEFL course (this will be needed for your visa application) and it’s jam-packed full of all the information you need to know to become an awesome TEFL teacher. You’ve then got to complete a 40-hour online orientation (Teaching in Japan course) where you’ll learn all about Japanese culture, history, language, and what it’s like to live and work in Japan.
After this, you’ll be jetting off to “the Land of the Rising Sun” (so called because the Japanese word for Japan is Nihon, which literally means ‘where the sun rises’)!
Next step, let’s get you teaching! For the first 1-2 weeks your school will give you a full orientation, so you’ll know all about the teaching requirements and what’s expected of you. It’s also a fully paid orientation, so you start earning the second you get in the school!
Over the next 12 months, you’ll get hands-on teaching experience in a Japanese classroom, putting your TEFL skills and knowledge into practice. You will be placed in either a public or private language school and could be teaching students of all ages, from infants to adults. You will also have plenty of spare time away from the classroom to explore everything that Japan has to offer, from amazing dishes of sushi and ramen to the famous Mount Fuji and the iconic bullet trains! This wonderful country, a perfect blend of modern innovation and traditional values, will not disappoint!

What does this mean?
Strict visa regulations in particular countries can mean teachers must hold a passport from certain countries. Unfortunately, this restricts who schools can hire and may make you ineligible if you apply for the position. This information is indicative and you can still apply for the position but we recommend that you look into whether you can obtain a visa for the position first.
Don’t give up! There are job opportunities in other teaching destinations overseas.
